Your thoughts mirror my own right now. In fact, my job is tripping and implementing “ action plans” which are sneaky ways to fire someone without allowing them to get unemployment. On top of that I know how it feels to have the IRS literally snatch money from our account! Took over a year to pay back thousands of dollars and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. All because of something that should have been updated by HR on the W-4.
I waited nearly half an hour on the phone to speak to an IRS REP. They told me even though married, I should claim myself on the W-4 and when it is tax filing time, do so by filing jointly.
It worked.
What would happen if you keep claiming zero, is less taxes will be taken from you and you would owe lots later on😞. Wouldn’t want that happening to you.
