You raise wonderful, insightful questions!
The good thing about a spiritual journey versus being “ born into a religion”, is that you stick with it a lot no matter what but with a more rational stance. I did not grow up in a Christian household but we became one over time but still less religious, however I do wonder:
What good would come of a life of constant pleasure and no rules?
What good can come of a life with no pleasure and too many rules?
Bad outcomes for both to be sure😅. Balance is key. I would suggest going through a Bible with a concordance and a biblical historical book of some kind that can help answer most questions.
My favorite study bible was a black and silver bible called the Apologetics study bible . It was refreshing to have and some Christians had a problem with it. What I need to do as well is go through it ( bible)piece by piece with some side materials for understanding.
Meanwhile, I read Buddhist quotes and still learn from different philosophers.😀
