You are not alone in your feelings, but I am so glad you shared this. Sometimes my soul hurt when I think about how I missed the family gathering on my dad's 55th birthday. He died soon after of stage 4 cancer. I couldn't make it there, due to no transportation at the time and living a bit further away. I know he understood...but it hurts. I am grateful for our talks via phone two weeks prior.
