How do most people come up with amazing topics for Medium? I’d wager like me, we hunt online or see what is trending, or dig up our pasts to discover some diamond in the rough we’d like to explore and write about. I use all of these methods. However, the most common one I use is quite traditional.

Conversation.

Yep, the age-old way of communicating: talk and listen, then engage. When I began writing for Medium though, I did not discover this method. Crazy, huh? It’s something I do all the time with my loved ones. We would just start speaking on a topic and it can become a passionate session sometimes because we all want to be right.

I was still going on Quora, or YouTube, or even trending news topics, but looking back at 2021 I don’t know how I could have skipped over conversation.

The process of turning conversations into topics

I don’t hop on Medium and just start typing after talking. Nothing is ever quite that easy.

As I’ve mentioned, people are passionate about their stance on things, but are we always right?
