Very well thought out essay here, Rosalyn!

I love Janet. Simply for being her and being a Black American Music Icon, and like you said, she is very conscious and Woke about what's happening in the world.

As far as the Kamala comment, I think we know Kamala is a mixture of ethnicities and not fully Black. What I mean by fully Black is someone who you can clearly see has two Black parents without question. Kamala is not fully Black but does it matter? I don't mind celebrities speaking on politics, but I also don't like seeing them backed into a corner on their political positions during questioning. Janet spoke her mind while trying to be humble(I assume this although I did not watch the interview).

I think as Black people, we kind of realize that a fully Black unapologetically Woke leader of the U.S. just ain't happenin'this lifetime, and so we try to slice and dice the heritage of would be leaderts to figure out if that person will be for us or against us.

At the end of the day, we have to be for ourselves and know that no one is coming to save us. Let's continue to work hard within our communities an strive to gain wisdom and strength.
