These Two BIPOC Women Are Making Waves
The response to their successes is proof of what we’ve been saying all along
Yara Shahidi, the actress known from the show Black-ish and the film The Sun Is Also a Star, graduated from Harvard this year with studies in African American Studies with a concentration in Black Political Thought.
Even more great news is that she and her mother established 7th Sun Productions company through ABC, so it’s fair to say she may stick with acting or at least remain in the arts, while also flexing her intelligence. Kudos to her!
The problem is that when I clicked on the comment bubble to add positive vibes to the conversation, this is what I saw:
As you can clearly see, there are racist, prejudiced comments from people who I suspect are evil trolls or bots. Either one could be true here.
To offset the sludge, I posted a comment congratulating Shahidi on her artistic and educational endeavors. I mean, this is what America has told us about the American Dream right? Pull our own selves up by the proverbial bootstraps and make a living for ourselves.
