The Viral ‘Wednesday Dance’ Isn’t The Only Thing Good About the Show

Here are my honest thoughts about Netflix’s Wednesday’

First, let’s get the obvious out of the way. Wednesday is played by Jenna Ortega — not Christina Ricci as some may want. Christina Ricci is a grown woman now and would not be able to play as 16-year-old Wednesday. Morticia is played by Catherine Zeta Jones and Gomez is played by Luiz Guzman. I admit, when I started watching episode 1, I was not liking the choice for Gomez in particular for various reasons.

The show is a spinoff of the popular movie and show, The Addams Family. Netflix is focusing more on the daughter, Wednesday Addams, She has always been odd, spooky, and cooky, so she was a good choice to focus on for this series.

I was surprised by this one element in the show

The show Wednesday is basically about her adjusting to school and learning more about herself while getting to know other people — don’t worry, Wednesday is still not an advocate of this, but the show is addicting because Wednesday displays certain skills we did not know she has. Very different from the Addams Family version we grew up on.

I was surprised that the school, Nevermore (based off of Edgar Allan Poe’s Poem) has students…
