My article, “The Curse of the Black In-Laws”, has received some pretty positive feedback. In it, I talk about mothers/siblings who are hateful towards others’ marital relationships.

One commenter decided to tell me that marriage is not a badge of honor, then she mistakenly thought the woman with the five kids and bad attitude was MY real-life example(it wasn’t), and said being married or promoting marriage is archaic.

At first, I was not going to respond, but I couldn’t help it. I responded telling her in one paragraph that marriage is as archaic and wrong as popping out babies by a man who will not honor you and the family unit — isn’t that akin to slavery? Haven’t Black women popped out enough babies for the plantation without any real agency?

I also proceeded to remind her that I put out a disclaimer in the article that not every man chosen is right for marriage and sometimes family members DO have a right to give your mate the side-eye, but that does not mean the family member should disrespect you and your relationship or act hateful towards YOU.
