Little Shop of Horrors is a 1986 classic based on the play by Alan Menken. In the movie, Seymour, a nerdy florist, finds a cute but strange little plant that looks similar to a Venus Fly Trap. He takes it in and finds out shortly that the plant can only live on blood.

Disclaimer: There are SPOILERS up ahead. You’ve been warned.

Before the movie even begins though, the “Three Muses”, Crystal, Ronette, and Chiffon warns the audience through song, that something horrific will happen. Their voices are amazing by the way, and played by Tichina Arnold, Tisha Campbell and Michelle Weeks.

But that’s not what I want to talk about.

The original sin of a monster

In the ending I saw as a child, Seymour defeats the groovy, soul singing man-eating plant in the end, and there is a happily ever after.
