Thank you so much for your thoughts! I will begin by saying I agree with many of your points actually. Much of the fantasy is a part of programming in many ways and I have read books(nonfiction) about women cultures where the female is dominant and sexually free. So I totally get that.
There are books where the non- Alpha/Beta men gets the girl and are still caring, loving, strong men--and as I've mentioned, I gravitate towards these works as well because it presents a more nuanced and balanced picture.
However, there are books I've read where the women were sexually domineering and free. In fact in 2006 I read nothing but African American erotica where the women were dominant in the bedroom and I loved those stories! I am just glad that there is a reversal in Dark Romance where sometimes the woman is carefree and dominant, but many times not.
Once the book is closed though, many women go back to their real lives with husbands who are probably submissive.
