Jealousy is definitely a terrible thing and ignorance. I just learned that the Jamaicans thought American Blacks were lazy and did not want to work, simply because white people said we wanted "off the plantation or could not work their hours"-- come to find out, American Blacks were sick of working for free. Why should we? that doesn't make us lazy! This is why as Black writers, we are called to unearth painful truths and make it plain.
