You hit the nail on the head! I wanted to flesh this out more, so I basically mentioned about the fear of losing sons in a historical context that also takes place presently. The fire and ice idea is perfect! How can men be men if women wish to shield them from life? Meanwhile, some women(not all) , allow their daughters to be exposed to dangerous elements ☹️ and it creates a very weird dynamic.
