Even if you aren’t a soccer fan, you’ll easily get addicted to these animes!
Ever since my niece got me and my husband into sports animes, I have been on the lookout for other amazing ones. Lately, we’ve taken a chill pill and relaxed to slice of life and some action animes, but last week we had the pleasant surprise of watching Blue Lock and Aoashi. Let’s compare the two soccer animes, shall we?
‘Blue Lock’ has action and intrigue on lock!
Blue Lock is about Japan’s losing streak in the World Cup.
When the main character, Isagi gets eliminated in the qualifier for Nationals, they invite him to Blue Lock — a program where he will learn to become the “Best Striker” Japan has.
It is this program and the selection of the 300 finalists, that drives the heart of this show.
Ego wants to breed “egoists” who aren’t afraid to think of only themselves and who will be number 1. There can only be one “Best Striker”. So he places them on teams and they undergo rigorous training. Ge this: They are served food according to their ranks. The main character keeps finding himself being served Natto beans(yuck!) and rice, while they serve the best players piping hot steak and pork…
