It’s not nice and very hurtful

Notice, that I did not say, “Stop giving me a god.”

I need for people to stop giving me THEIR god.

Last year, my husband and I decided to try a Zoom Bible Study group. We weren’t going to church and quite frankly, I know that I personally was not EVER going back to church, but this group met Tuesday and Friday evenings at 7pm and eventually moved to three times a week — Sunday, Tuesday, and Fridays.

We did not know what we were getting into at first. We just wanted to connect with others safely and the group consisted of at least over 100 people at the time — maybe more. It was led by a kind woman who guided us gently through the entire bible. Each scheduled night we had to meet. No eating or drinking in front of the camera and the camera had to be kept on the ENTIRE time.

Introverts like me loathe that with a passion.

Anyway, at least four months since starting this particular bible study, the teacher looks into the camera and tells us that the new Christ will be Korean. I looked at the sea of faces there: Black, White, Hispanic, 90% Korean. No big deal.

At first.

Then, the teacher said, “By next Tuesday we should be looking like we are in salvation. Wearing your suits and…
