My ‘Woman King’ Experience and Review
Beside every king is a strong woman
‘The Woman King’ was packed with so many messages, drama, and stellar action scenes, that I will try to give my point of view without telling the whole movie.
First, let’s start with the overall cinematic feel of this movie. My husband said he could “Smell the trees of the jungle. The sweat and perfume of the African air.”
We had the front row seats this evening, and as I reclined and ate my buttered popcorn, I could not help but admire Viola Davis’s body transformation into this ripped goddess. She is such an inspiration! The other actresses were just as toned, but at the same time have the most unique, beautiful faces.
In the movie there are “makeup queens” or wives who belong to the king, but it is Viola/Nanisca who steals the scene. Every gesture. Every swing of her sword is musical.
Literally every scene is incredible but there were a few that were absolutely unforgettable. The fight scenes were executed powerfully and of course there is a scene or two that brought tears to my eyes but overall, the movie’s message is what will live on.
So what is this message?
There are a few.
- Strength is beautiful.
