My Top 8 Best Sports Anime(So Far)
My new favorite genre of anime just keeps getting better
In 2020, my niece who loves sports told me about Haikyuu and from then on I was addicted to sports anime. Sports anime have some of the best characterization and storylines.
Here are my favs from least favorite to the best. Enjoy!
8. Free! Iwatobi Swim Club
Many people refer to this anime as fanservice — meaning a bunch of good looking “wet” boys are swimming around, but the plot is thicker than that. It is the story of Haruka, Makota, Nagisa, and Rin who swam together in relay races and one day decided to bury their trophy in a time capsule, but they reunite in high school and Rin isn’t with them anymore, he went to Australia to train and he wants none other than Haru to compete with him.
Free! had great artwork and the plot was filled with teen angst. You know the type with deep thinking teenagers who may have had a fallout because someone may have thought poorly of the other, without truly expressing that thought? Still, it was a great anime to see.
