Maybe This Is Why I’m Introverted?

I just finished watching Timothy Ward’s YouTube video titled, What Life’s Like As a Middle Aged Introvert, and let me tell you he had me dying laughing when he said there needs to be a dating app for introverts where each person agrees to hang out only once a week and “message each other twice a week only”.

Outside of that humor, his video dug deep into the reason why he could possibly be an introvert. He said his mother didn’t allow him to play with other children, so most hobbies and sports he did by himself: played basketball outside by himself for example.

However, what he said next was an epiphany laid out in social commentary:

“I get the feeling that if I were born an extrovert, all that alone time would have driven me crazy. However, I know I am a true introvert because it didn’t really bother me to be alone.”

Being an introvert is not an excuse or a flaw, it is a trait.

Timothy is 42, lives alone, never been married and has no children. To some, this is like a red flag to avoid him at all costs. To be quite fair, even though I am married, if I were not, his “fate” would have been mines as well. This goes for most introverts.
