Lizzo’s New Music Video May Be the Cure For Pandemic Blues
An outlook on Lizzo and Cardi B’s latest song “Rumors”
I want to begin by saying I do not watch much music videos unless they are from the 90s, or perhaps reaction videos; my music tastes are more along the lines of Chillhop Jazz and Christian music.
Yet I was drawn to Lizzo’s latest video, “Rumors” for several reasons.
The cadence of the song, the first immediate visuals
When you first click play, you see a rustic Greek vase, spinning slowly and Rizzo is on the side turning, waving her arms in a snakelike wave as she sings:
*They don’t know I do it for the culture, god#$%n
They say I should watch the shit I post, oh, god#$%n
Say I’m turnin’ big girls into hoes, oh, god#$%n
They say I get groupies at my shows, oh, god#$%n
Immediately, I was drawn to the lyrics because I am not that familiar with Lizzo’s music but strangely I am at the same time-that ever happen to you?. I was not prepared for the God*&%ns, in a sing song voice, making her a singing comedian.
