Let’s Talk About Robots Using the N Word and the Future of Rap

It’s a wild world out there but the problem aren’t bots — it’s the human behind the bot

It’s like a moment taken Janelle Monae’s “Dirty Computer”, complete with Jim Crow Jesus. Except this is about FN Meka, the AI rapper that was just signed to Capitol Records August 11th and already, as of today, Capitol Records severed ties with the rappin’ bot.

The problem? FN Meka used too many negative stereotypical terms regarding Black people. Namely, the N word.

I never heard of FN Meka before because I do not listen to mumble rap, which is(or was) FN Meka’s specialty.

What’s totally wild, is that the AI rapper was literally just hailed as “the world’s biggest A.R rapper. FN Meka’s singles “Moonwalkin” and “Internet” generated millions of views, pushing it top of the charts in 2019.

However, there are many problems with this FN Meka situation, and it is deeper than just the robot saying the “N Word”. Oh, it goes much deeper.

First, robots do not have a mind of their own. I was taught a very long time ago in computer programming class, that we have to see computers as DUMB. In other words, we are the gods who give them the code to do a job. FN Meka was CREATED by…
