After watching Great Teacher Onizuka, I had to find a another classic or at least a school themed anime.

After searching all over Netflix, I didn’t an old anime, but I found Komi Can’t Communicate. This anime is about a girl who is so beautiful and refined, that everyone is drawn to her.

There’s just one problem.

She has SEVERE social anxiety.

On the first day, she meets Tadano who is humble and open enough to communicate with her via the chalkboard. She finally begins using a notebook to “speak” with him, but Tadano has other ideas. He wants Komi to make 100 friends this school year.

My reaction to Episode 1

I’ll be honest.

After watching something so engrossing and epic as Great Teacher Onizuka, I was looking for something more old school.

Episode 1 of Komi Can’t Communicate, began with brilliant story and emotion. Crazy ninja classmates and of course like in most anime, there are no teachers just class presidents. But then there is Komi, sitting and shaking, rattling so hard you can hear her teeth chatter.
