Growing up, I would see people pull up to the driveway of a McDonalds, order fries, a Big Mac and a side of Diet Coke. As I’ve gotten older, I would see sugar free cakes, cookies, and even candies (my favorite were sugar free candies), My new favorite cookies as of late are Voortman’s Sugar Free oatmeal cookies. To some, it tastes like cardboard. To me — it’s perfect.

But is it perfect?

As a Type 2 Diabetic, I know what landed me here.

A combination of genetics, environment, and a horrible American diet. Some people can eat badly and never get diabetes. The unlucky 800 million of us, succumbed to the “sugar disease”. With that being said, a diabetic’s life is ruled by the tongue that shouldn’t dance with sugar(or carbs). In fact, professionals, like Dr. Jason Fung, suggests we(diabetics) should fast often and forget about sugars. Forget about carbs too because, well, carbs break down into sugars(glucose).

Bottom line — we don’t need it.

We don’t need bread, pasta, pizza, tacos, cakes, cereal, and anything else we’ve had all our lives.
