If I’m Starting With The Person In The Mirror — Shouldn’t You?
But as the Black collective, we all should
Engaging in profound conversations often sparks insightful think pieces. A recent discussion with a fellow Medium writer led us to delve into the topic of single women disillusioned by their choices in men. We both concluded that self-reflection, rather than blame, serves as an essential first step.
However, this introspection can inadvertently deepen the divide between genders, creating a significant rift. While I advocate for women to step back and prioritize self-healing, some argue that therapy isn’t necessary, advocating instead for accepting the truth. They believe that focusing solely on personal growth is sufficient, regardless of whether the other party engages in self-reflection.
But isn’t mutual soul-searching vital? Shouldn’t we strive for harmony and realign with the divine plan set by Yah/God, working collaboratively as men and women, as our bodies were designed to function together? Our bodies were literally designed to work together — so why all the fuss?
The gender debates primarily stems from a blend of pain, media influence, and self-hate issues.
