I Read The Viral ‘Twisted’ Series by Ana Huang
A deep dive into the new trigger warning system in books, and more
I rummaged through my new stack of books and picked up Twisted Love by Ana Huang. I stumbled upon this series on social media, yet no one clarified its genre: Fantasy? Dark romance? What had everyone so eager to purchase this quartet? More importantly, why does this series and other books like it, come with trigger warnings?
Below is the podcast:
As I opened the first page of Twisted Love, the author’s note immediately stood out: CONTENT WARNINGS — “this book contains sexually explicit scenes and other topics that may be sensitive to some readers.”
From that moment, I anticipated some intense content. The series begins with a man whose heart is as cold as ice, yet when he encounters his radiant, sunshine-like woman, she gradually melts it. The passionate scenes between them are scorching and took my breath away. While the series contains dark themes, it isn’t entirely a dark romance.
