I knew a woman who was so independent, she did not even want help bringing in groceries. Then years later, I met a slightly older woman who confessed to me that she just want a shoulder to lean on for once, to have a man care for her so she can feel free.
When I would travel or be around other races( mostly white), I realized no matter how “ independent” the white woman appears to be, her man holds her and takes care of everything. When I worked in a grocery store, the white married woman shopped or went to the jazzercise class next door during “working” hours.
The Black women(most), shopped alone or had on work uniforms.
Like you said, we are in this together, but Black women didn’t vote to be strong. Trust me.
