Disclaimer: I am not trying to shame anyone, and I will not use this famous televangelist’s name, however to me, they are all one and the same. This was solely my family’s experience and a learning lesson.

It was 2011 and we were heading into eviction status. No way around it. My husband and I both loss our jobs due to just plain ol’ unfortunate luck and terrible hiring structures in Virginia. We were both surviving off of trusting God and writing articles for Examiner.com at the time.

I remember we always watched TBN(Trinity Broadcasting Network), and enjoyed the sermons and the fundraising marathons. We’d crack open our bibles and study the Word of God together.

What we loved most of all were the televangelists who would grace us with their beautiful teeth and latest designer clothes, but who seemed knowledgeable and humble at the same time.

When you are desperate, you do desperate things.

It was one particular bible teacher who I’ve listened to since I was 15 years old. She was extremely wise and came from a broken past like most of us. Any time she was in town, I went to see her and bless her with my ears and donation money.
