How You Can Enjoy the Holidays Even If You’re A Diabetic
Living with diabetes can be a downer, but it doesn’t always have to be
As a person living with Type 2 Diabetes, I am tired of articles recommending boiled eggs, carrots and “nut butters” as perfect “go-to snacks that are tasty and keeps you full!”.
No one wants to eat eggs and salad for breakfast lunch and dinner — now that Christmas is creeping on tiptoes, we are bound to be invited to more festivities, causing anxiety and worry. Much like on Thanksgiving.
So what can we do?
Get creative with keeping your fitness routine
When you have a chronic illness like diabetes, exercising is no longer an option.
If you want to literally live another day with less complications, exercising five days per week minimum is key. It doesn’t have to be for an hour, but at least a half hour of exercise is ideal to increase insulin sensitivity. However, during the holidays, how the heck are you going to workout?
