Hope Is a Double Edged Sword

And miracles are for the movies

If I Ain't Readin'

My belief gained traction
the first half of my
life

I jumped. I shouted. Tithed
evangelized — posting Jesus
letters.

Middle age brought pain
and the study
of sage

The study of humanhood
and not hope- a double edged
sword

Sometimes it works
with prayer, yet goes
unanswered.

The miracle on 34th
Street was great for hype and
hope

Yet I still can’t cope
when God says,
“Nope” —

“I hear you, but
there shall be no
acknowledgement.”

I now believe
he’s there…somewhere
in us

When the lady in
the store smiles sweetly
and helps with the
bags
