Hi Lishone! As always it is enlightening reading your posts.

All that my family and I have went through , showed me a couple of things. I say these things not to convince you, but to illustrate how I felt.

When someone is going through something, I agree with you 1000% percent that we shouldn’t tell them to be grateful. It is callous to tell someone to be grateful for ugly things happening to them.

It is only when I look back though … that I am grateful for the hardship. I manage money a little better now, I have more sympathy and empathy for others now because of what I have gone through, and that anger or madness I had before, fueled my desire to do better.

We each have our own views about this, but I do respect your view on it as well. Again, great article!
