Hi Jade,

I just read your article and I want to start off by saying that it is unfortunate that women are still put down...mostly by our own gender. That was a horrible experience you've had.

I first came across the term "pick me" while watching Black female YouTubers grow disgusted by the lack of black male attention. These women who vie for the attention of black males were/are called Pick Me's., because even though black women are not desirable to most black men's eyes, these "Pick Me's" still want them. I truly never realized the term was used that broadly though until after I read your article.

It's a sad shame that we can never use healing words and positive words to build each other up instead of tearing each other down.
