Here Are Some Possible Reasons Why You’re Emotionally Numb
Emotional numbness is more common than you think
We experience emotions at any given time of day and at least one emotion 90% of the time[src].
What happens when you realize you can no longer feel anything? Some people pray to not have feelings, others write gorgeous poetry about it, yet admitting to yourself that you have not been feeling anything is the first step to getting back on track.
Emotional numbness simply means you’ve shut down processing your feelings. So it may seem okay to not experience pain, but according to Dr. Mayra Mendez, Ph.D:
“While emotional numbing blocks or shuts down negative feelings and experiences, it also shuts down the ability to experience pleasure, engages in positive interactions and social activities, and interferes with openness for intimacy, social interests, and problem-solving skills,”
