Growing In Meditation-Day 1 “Morning Sounds”

Earlier this year, I combined the wisdom of Atomic Habits with achieving a more reflective, meditative life for 30 days. Since then, I have not meditated as much, and would like to return to it because it was helpful.

Today I focused on just listening. I did not count my breath and I did not let my eyes drop 45 degrees.

I, however, did focus on my Hara and closed my eyes while concentrating on my non-self self. I was quiet and let all the sounds around me, just be. I am doing this because I feel as if my soul just wants to listen and not do so much chanting, praying, and talking all the time.

The result was that it felt beautiful to hear my rabbit chewing her Timothy Hay and drinking her water. The morning sounds of traffic from a nearby bridge usually annoy me — today it didn’t. It was just another energetic sound of people moving from place to place, many probably want to stay home, others may need a break from home.

My husband’s morning sounds: like the hum of the razor, the waterfall of water from the sink, and the clink and clack of him putting items in their proper…
