From Men To Bad Boys: The Slap Heard ‘Round the World
If you were looking for Black excellence, this ain’t it
The 2022 Oscars is never on my radar, but the slap heard ‘round the world was. Filling up my timeline with memes and quotes and videos of Will Smith slapping the taste from Chris Rock’s mouth.
I have equal respect for both men. I have always loved Chris Rock’s candid stand-ups and Will Smith is definitely an amazing actor– no lie.
What I saw on my Feed though, had me disgusted.
If you all didn’t know, Jada Pinkett has already spoken about alopecia which is the loss of hair and this can be caused by stress or other factors.
So she went bald, and she is BEAUTIFUL bald.
However, Chris Rock, the comedian that he is, made a joke regarding her hair or lack thereof, and of her playing as G.I. Jane. Some saw Jada roll her eyes, while Will took it upon himself to go on the stage…
And deliver a mighty blow to Chris Rock’s face.
I did not like it at all. People clowned Chris, clowned Will, and all I can think of is: Whether this is staged or not, do we as Black people need to constantly do foolish things like this? What in the world? I mean NO ONE should engage in these behaviors, but WE know…
