I'll be honest. I have been staying away from Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and Starbucks for distance/location reasons and because I know my people typically aren't treated well at those places.

I do support small grocery stores in my area and do take the time to travel to organic stores where my husband and I have built a good rapport with the owners. We also frequent a local diner where it is predominantly White/Italian, but Blacks go there too and we are treated like royalty there. Any place outside of that I have to be very discerning.

Another point I'd like to make is that I do support Black businesses and content creators that are POC/Black. I would like to see us own more grocery stores, banks and hospitals though so that support can be a easy transition. Right now it is highly convenient to go through Amazon sometimes or suburban shops.
