I still love a good romance story but with a few exceptions
When someone asks me my favorite genre of books, I immediately say ROMANCE! I just love the feels and thrills and sexiness of most romance novels I read. Growing up I read horror and drama of course, but in my early teens I was drawn to Harlequin romances because they have a simple formula that works —
Guy meets gal+ Conflict+ Sensuality/Sex+ Resolution= The End.
However, lately I have been caught up in books that doesn’t necessarily have romance in them. Romance is either hinted at, completely missing, or blended in really well with the story.
A Chinese Historical Fiction I am reading now (will do an in depth review soon), is a part of the 2nd category: romance is completely missing. However, the story is so good and I mean REALLY good, that I don’t mind. It has martial arts, friendship and of course, it does leave some romance to the imagination as far as certain actions that could lead to a love story.
For the most part, it is gone and that is okay.
Then, you have books that I love with romance blended well into it: Kenya Wright’s Russian Mafia series fits this category. I was not into crime fiction with erotica before 2018, but…
