Are You Done Pulling Up Your Bootstraps?
I am — in some ways
There’s a purported formula for amassing wealth, and regrettably, we bought into the whole “Work hard to earn your keep” pitch. We’ve been conditioned with that precise mantra, leading us to scorn those who actually found a life filled with contentment and glamour.
We erroneously believe that we will have a content life if we go to college and work.
Let me be clear though.
I have several members in my family who went to college, and they live in very nice neighborhoods. Lawyers, professors, etc. So yeah, college does pay off. But in essence you still must WORK.
A job is not secure enough.
In truth, you may not ever become welathy. Just well off.
Following the bootstrap mythology does not produce millionaires.
It produces workers.
9 to 5 ers.
Pension payers.
Tax payers.
That’s the group that went to school, followed the rubric of life, and perhaps we can say they are content.
However, you are here because you want to be content too and not just putting on boots and doing hard work forever until you finally get a vacation at the ripe old age…
