After watching the incredible, amazing Yashahime, I had to look for something that was more…classic.

Enter, The Great Teacher Onizuka(2000). Eikichi Onizuka is a 22- year old pervert(hey, perversion is akin to anime at this point). He is an ex-gang member with a dream of teaching. From the first episode we understand that Onizuka has his own brand of discipline for the students, and it can be hilarious and life changing.

1. Classic means real

I can’t really explain it, but animes drawn in the late 90s and early 2000s, have more of a real “feel” to them. This anime has me drawn in. I don’t feel as if I am watching an animation, but a real, live show. Sure, the women’s legs are drawn impossibly long and facial expressions seem twisted and demonic, but the anime is just as enthralling as Black Jack or Cowboy Bebop.

2. Edge of your seat episodes with lessons

The first episode introduces us to Onizuka dreaming of being a teacher so that he can be surrounded by young girls. When a young girl finally catches his eye, he will wish she hadn’t.
